Vernacular Home Rural House

Vernacular Home

The Vernacular Home in Bangladesh is designed using local materials, mud, bamboo, straw, and bricks made from local soil. Responding to hot climates and long monsoons, it features a steep roof, a raised veranda, and cross ventilation for passive cooling. Openings on windward and leeward walls release heat, while double brick cavities insulate. Clay pots embedded in the tea house wall cool the air. Using liter bottles of light for interiors, the home includes bedrooms, a kitchen, a toilet, cow sheds, and a tea house with a retail supporting their livelihood while ensuring privacy.

Fragments Sustainable Decorative Objects

Fragments

Fragmentos is a collection of sustainable decorative objects crafted from upcycled marble that would otherwise be discarded. Each piece (vases, candlesticks, and a side table) follows a circular design approach, where the core of one element becomes the raw material for another. This innovative process maximizes material efficiency while preserving the natural beauty of marble. The result is a timeless collection that blends contemporary aesthetics with responsible craftsmanship, transforming remnants into sculptural works of art.

Photosynthetic City Biomass Power System

Photosynthetic City

Photosynthetic City is a combined solar and biomass energy system designed for existing city buildings. Solar panels on steel frames are mounted on the roof, while planting modules made of recycled injection molded plastic cover the building surface. The planting modules have small holes that guide excess rainwater downward, so every plant receives water and nutrients. Plant waste is collected and burned in a combined heat and power steam turbine to produce electricity. The plants also store carbon, clean the air and reduce noise, lowering the demand for traditional energy.
